Well, I’m here to answer your questions. I want to help set you up for success so you can enjoy your time in the military and take advantage of all the benefits it has to offer. Through a mix of education and gamesmanship (because this military thing is sort of a game), you can have a Deliberate Military Experience!
My military journey….
I grew up in a single parent household on government assistance programs, but I learned to value higher education as a way to avoid my childhood situation. I had every intent on going straight to college after high school. Then, September 11th happened. I wanted to kick down doors and take names. I couldn’t stand by and let terrorist atrocities happen to my country again while I had something to give.Â
I enlisted in the active-duty Army in 2003 with the intent to do my four-year contract with the hope of making a small difference in the world, earn the GI Bill to pay for some college, and then high five out. That’s not exactly what happened.
As time has passed, I have been able to capitalize on a multitude of military opportunities at various stages of my career (none of which my recruiter told me), such as:
- Never taking out student loans to pay for two degrees
- Traveling to different parts of the world
- Having three children on the military’s dime
- Collaborating and growing relationships with a diversity of amazing people
- Taking control of my job and duty locationÂ
- And so much more!
How many people can say all this with regards to their profession?
My experiences have not occurred by accident. I have been extremely deliberate. I have planned for a Deliberate Military Experience and if you want too as well, I’m here for you.
